- If you picked the lock at location 2, the key here will have disappeared. Take the items and one of the blocks west of location 5 disappears. The ladder on the north wall leads down to a room at location 60 beneath the pits to the east. Pull the lever to close and open pit D to the east. This area is safe to step on.
Jul 21, 2010 3 lever works on same principle. They would be slightly more difficult to manipulate (pick) as there are 3 levers inside which have to line up to slide the bolt. Most internal doors seem to be fitted with 2 lever locks such as Basta or Eurospec, and these locks have very few different key variations.
The second level of the Catcomb is filled with Skeletal Warriors. Often they’ll be accompanied by 8th level Temple Clerics. The Skeletal Warriors are fairly resistant to spells. Use Turn Undead on them to cause them to run away and try to pick them off one at a time.
The second Horn can be found on this level, as well as Calandra, a decent fighter who will join your party when you rescue her, and Shorn Diergar, a dwarf cleric, who has a chance to offer to join your party.
1) Stairs up to Catacomb Level 1 Sublevel 2 Location 32.
2) Use a Grey Key in the keyhole on the north wall to open the door to the west.
3A-C) Fireball trap. Pull the Lever to trigger a fireball from 3C. Step backwards to avoid the fireball. When the fireball hits the wall a Skull Key appears in the niche at 3B.
4) Use a Skull Key to open the door to the north.
5) When you step here the door to the north opens and four Skeleton Warriors from #6 step forwards.
6) Four Skeleton Warriors.
7) When you stand here the door to the east opens, releasing three Skeleton Warriors and a Temple Priest from #8.
8) Three Skeleton Warriors and a Temple Priest.
9) Use a Skull Key in the keyhole in the west wall to open the door to the north.
10) Three Skeleton Warriors and a Temple Priest.
11) A Skull Key, Dagger +2 and a Robe +1.
12) This door must be forced open.
13) This room is filled with Skeleton Warriors and Priests. There are 16 Skeleton Warriors in total at these locations.
14) Two Skeleton Warriors and two Temple Priests.
14A) Two Skeleton Warriors and two Temple Priests. A Scroll of Neutralize Poison is on the floor.
15) There’s a pile of items in this room designed to lure you in so you get trapped by the Skeleton Warriors. There’s an Axe +2 called “Bait”, a Short Sword +2 called “Sting”, a Helmet, Boots, two Iron Rations and two Cleric Scrolls of Cure Serious Wounds.
16) Darkmoon Key and Cleric Scroll of Neutralize Poison.
17) The Secret Button opens a passage to the west.
18) Potion of Vitality and Potion of Cure Poison.
19) The south wall is an illusion.
20, 22, 24, 25, 26, 28, 30) The Buttons on the walls open/close the cell doors opposite.
21) A Femur.
23) A Skull.
27) Shorn Diergar, the dwarven cleric is imprisoned here. If you release him there is a small chance he will offer to join your party.
29) The remains of a drow mage, San-Raal. He has Intelligence 18 and makes a good addition to your party if you’re looking for another Mage.

44A-B) Stepping on the Pressure Plate at 44A triggers a fireball from 44B which flies towards your party.
45A-C) Stepping on the Pressure Plate at 45A triggers a fireball from 45B. The wall to the east of 45C is fragile and can be bashed down. Behind the wall are the stairs to Catacomb Level 3 Location 1.
46A-B) The Pressure Plate at 46A triggers a fireball from 46B.
47) Stairs up to Catacomb Level 1 Sublevel 3 Location 33.
48) Stairs down to Catacomb Level 3 Sublevel 1 Location 39.
49) Stairs up to Catacomb Level 1 Location 22.
50A-B) Falling down the pit on Catacomb Level 1 Location 20B will bring you to this cell. To get out throw a small item through the cell door and it will hit a Button on the opposite wall (50B) causing the door to open.
51) The door to the west has a lock but there’s no key able to open it. Use a thief to pick the lock.

Eye of the Beholder 2 - The Catacombs beneath Darkmoon

Finding Insal
The main entrance of the catacombs is a large room. To your left you willfind a locked door, while to the right is another door that you can openwith a button. Taking the latter route, you get to a door that is openedwhen you step on the pressure plate before it. Guards will attack you asyou enter, and one drops a grey key.
From here, there are two possible routes. There is a passage and a doorwith a lever. For now, follow the passage. Vellum 2 5 4.
At the end of the passage is another door with another pressure plate infront of it. Unlike the first door, this one does not remain open when youstep off the pressure plate. Put something on the pressure plate to keepthe door open.
As you enter the new room, to your right you will find a grey key in a niche.Use it to open the locked door, where you will find Insal the Thief.
Insal is the first NPC you meet. Unfortunately, he is of very little use..
..since he leaves the party and steals some of your items as soon as yourest with him in the party. Naturally, not resting for the rest of the gameis not an option.
You could certainly benefit from Insal's added inventory, but you can't lethim escape with your items. Fortunately, you can keep him on your partyby having him killed. There is a guard at the other end of the room. Give himyour back, and he will kill Insal. His attacks are pretty weak, so you maywant to speed things up by casting Fireball and walking into it.
After you kill that guard (who drops lock picks when you kill him), checkout the barrels behind him. They contain rations and 3 bags of magic dust,which you will need later if one of your characters gets petrified.
The Spider sub-level
The note that Insal leavesif you let him rob your party hints at a secret door in the room with thebarrels. Look for a small button on the same wall as Insal's door lock is.This will reveal a staircase down.
The large cobwebs that bar your way are an immediate sign that spidersinhabit this area. Make sure you have Neutralize Poison in your cleric'scurrent repertoire before cutting up the cobwebs.
There isn't much to this level. After killing two or three spiders youwill find a few items in a corner. These include bones that crumble to dustas you touch them, a cleric scroll of neutralize poison, aparchment, a mage scroll ofmagic missile, and a copper key. The parchment shows a secret door in anotherarea that you will be visiting shortly.
The Food Store
Go back to the door with the lever and open it.After killing the guard, you will find that this is a food store. 3 ironrations are here for the taking.
Beholder 2 Picking Lever Locks
The Pit Trap
Backtrack to the catacomb entrance and use the grey keyyou got from the guards earlier to open the door. Kill the guards (my paladinadvanced to Level 7 during this fight). In the corridor thatfollows, you find a pit. A party member remarks about the lever closing the pit,but that a trap follows. Pull the lever to close the pit. As you step on thepressure plate after the pit, it reopens behind you. The door before you alsoopens, and guards come to attack you.
If you step back, you will fall in the pit. If this happens, throw an objectthrough the prison cell door to open it.
Kill the guards and collect their loot (2 grey keys and 2 scale mails).As the corridor bends, look for a small button on the wall (given away by themap you found earlier) to reveala path down to the prison area. This is the same place where you end up if youfall through the pit.
Note that as soon as you take a staircase down from this level, you willhave to answer a copy protection question. If you skip this part, you willbe asked anyway at the second staircase after thebarracks.
A button opens the door to the cell where you fall from the pit. Anothercell door is locked, but you can pick the fancy-lookinglock and the door will open behind you. Here, you find a mage scroll oflightning bolt, and a skull. Lightning bolt is an awesome spell that surgesthrough your enemies and causes lots of damage, so scribe it to your mage'sspellbook.
The Barracks
Go back up and continue following the passage. Use a grey key to unlockthe guard station door, and kill them all. My Fighter/Thief got hisThief Level 7 during this fight. The guards drop a long sword, and youwill also find a magical dagger by examining the basin.

Further down the corridor, you will find a door on either side. Pick thefancy-looking lock and killthe two guards in there to get another grey key. Use it to open the otherdoor, where you will find a horn called the NorthWind, and a parchmenthinting at its purpose.
At the end of the corridor are stairs leading down. As soon as you go downthe stairs, look for a button in the wall to your right. Pressing this buttonwill make a niche appear on the wall. This niche contains a sling and acleric scroll of Raise Dead.

At the end of the corridor you will find another downward stairway, leadingto the next major level beneath Darkmoon.
